This spring as part of our ALL GLUTEN FREE selection at the Old Town Manassas Farmers Market we began selling pure raw honey from Rock Hill Honey bee hives. They are a small apiary averaging 60-110 hives at one time.
I had the pleasure of picking up the first couple cases of honey right on the farm in Stafford, Virginia. The day I was there they had just received a shipment of queen bees. I didn’t even know they were sitting in boxes just a few feet from me until our talking got them buzzing, and boy were they loud!
I have to admit, although I’m afraid of bee stings, bees in general have always intrigued me. My maternal grandfather and his family are beekeepers – in fact their family symbol is a bee hive. I grew up sucking honey from a piece of comb my grandmother would cut from the hive screens. She would melt down the combs to release the honey and I loved the smell of the warm melted wax.
Queen Bees!
What makes this honey ‘raw’ is that it is not heated or force filtered, so it comes to you pure, loaded with healthy enzymes that have not been killed off by excessive processing. Nothing is ever added to their honey or taken away, so the honey comes to us pure and just the way the bees made it.

“What’s so special about honey?
Honey is God’s natural sweetener. There is nothing else like it on the planet! Tombs uncovered in Egypt have found honey inside thousands of years old that was still edible.
Raw honey is slowly released into the bloodstream which is better for your body!
Buying local honey supports local farming and guarantees your product is real, natural, and safe; given the extremely high amounts of “funny honey” being imported into the US.”
We love selling local raw honey. We’ll make it available to purchase online soon, but for now you can find it at the Old Town Manassas Farmers Market OR find in our booth at the HomeStore at 9720 Liberia Avenue, Manassas, VA.
